[post_content] => Crown Point Fire Rescue has built a new brush truck that is used to fight fires that are not accessible from the roadway.

This truck started out as a bare-bones chassis and was designed by the team at CPFR in conjunction with the crew from the city maintenance shop.

The total cost of the truck at completion was less than half of the approximately $140,000 of a delivered truck from a manufacturer.

The project was funded entirely through Center Township Trustee Paul Bremer and the Center Township board with assistance from local vendors Lake Shore Ford in Burns Harbor, Illiana Auto LLC in Cedar Lake, Fire Service Inc. in St. John and Print Pro in Crown Point.

The truck was officially accepted into the city fleet Wednesday during a ceremony at the fire station following the Board of Works meeting.
